Troopers: Drunken Driver Hit 95 MPH on Taconic

A 21-year-old Yorktown Heights woman was drunk behind the wheel when police stopped her for speeding on the Taconic Parkway, officials said. She is accused of hitting 95 mph.

State troopers from the Hawthorne barracks made the arrest in Yorktown at about 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, after the driver passed a marked state police cruiser in a 55-mph zone.

The woman is facing a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated. She is due Feb. 27 in Yorktown Justice Court. Police did not have her blood-alcohol content.

At 9pm-sick. The Taconic can still be very busy at that time with lots of innocent people on the road. IMO drunk driving should mean an immediate suspension of your license for a year with community service (alcohol related) and educational classes. It SHOULD make their lives harder to get a DUI. When is enough enough??

The penalty for being convicted is much worse then it used to be. I unfortunately know a few people who have been charged with DWI or DUI and they have all had their licenses suspended, massive fines, and also had to install a breathalyzer into their cars once they receive a license again.

If you want to reduce drunk driving, start seizing cars. If there is a law to seize cars during solicitation of prostitutes, isn't drunk driving just a tad more dangerous to society?

HOW ABOUT A HEFTY FINE FOR DWI. SAY $5000.00 IT WOULD MAKE DRIVERS THINK TWICE BEFORE HAVING THAT LAST DRINK AND IT WOULD HELP BALANCE THE BUDGET.

How about printing the name of the perp. https://www.nyspnews.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=36192

I, too am curious as to why names are not printed. Can you fill us in on that?

A hefty fine won't work. People don't make sound decisions when they are drunk. Take their car away and now they can't get behind a wheel drunk.
