Somers Teen Breaks Into Home, Hosts Party with Friends, Drinks Alcohol

An 18-year-old Somers teen is facing criminal charges for breaking into a home while the homeowners were on vacation and throwing a large party with friends, state police said.  

The teen was arrested on Aug. 11 and charged with second-degree criminal trespass and fourth-degree criminal mischief, misdemeanors.

Police said they responded to a report of a large gathering at a private home in Somers on Saturday, Aug. 10 Investigation revealed the teen knew the house was unoccupied because the owners were on vacation. He invited other youths to the home, which he broke into through a sliding door and hosted a party. 

The youths drank alcoholic beverages which they brought into home and also consumed liquor and beer which they found there.

The teen was released and scheduled to appear in the Town of Somers Court on a later date to answer the charges.
