Somers Man's Death on Route 100 Due to Medical Condition

Police investigation has revealed that a 60-year-old Somers man, who collapsed on Route 100 while walking toward the Goldens Bridge train station Monday morning, suffered an unknown medical condition, state police told Patch.

There was no indication that Frank L. Katz was struck by a motor vehicle, police said in a statement.

A passing motorist spotted Katz, who was lying on the side of the road, at around 6:30 a.m. and stopped to help. Several other motorists also stopped and rendered aid prior to police arrival, Senior Investigator Patrick Bosley of the state police Somers barracks said.

The man showed some signs of life at the scene, state police said. Emergency responders tried to revive him.

He was transported to the Putnam Hospital Center where he was later pronounced dead.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or stopped at the scene is asked to contact the State Police at Somers at (914)277-3177.
