A loud explosion and fire in the area of Garth Court in Yorktown last week was the result of a resident allegedly pouring gasoline on tree limbs in his backyard and lighting them on fire, Yorktown police said.
Police began the investigation when they received a call from a resident about the explosion and fire on Sept. 12.
They revealed a 47-year-old Yorktown man was responsible. The man was charged with having an open fire, a violation of the Westchester County Law.
