Police: Woman Steals from Sears; Man Fails to Appear in Court

Speeding in Work Zone, Unlicensed Operation

A 41-year-old Yorktown man has been charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor and speed in work zone, a traffic infraction. 

His vehicle was stopped on Sept. 22 at about 6:10 p.m. on the Taconic State Parkway for traveling above the 35 mph work zone speed limit, police said. A DMV check revealed the man's driver's license had been suspended, police said. He was released and scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 25. 

Failure to Appear in Court

Yorktown police arrested a 21-year-old Cortlandt Manor man after a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.

The man failed to appear at his scheduled court date on Sept. 13, police said. He was due in court to answer charges of a past arrest for reckless driving, aggravated unlicensed operation and nine vehicle and traffic law violations. 

He voluntarily appeared at police headquarters on Sept. 27. The man was remanded Sutton to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $3,000 bail. He was scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 11. 

Stolen Items from Sears

Yorktown police arrested a 43-year-old Mahopac woman for stealing assorted Sears merchandise valued at $206.9 , police said.

Tracey A. Cleary was charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor. Police allege the woman concealed the items in a tote bag and exited the store without paying for them. 

She was arrested and later released on $250 bail. She was scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 25.

Peekskill Man Wanted in Dutchess County

A 37-year-old Peekskill man who had an active NYS Family Court (in Dutchess County) warrant of arrest was arrested by Yorktown police on Sept. 25.

Police were dispatched to Birdsall Drive on the report of a suspicious person. When officer arrived, they located the Peekskill resident. Investigation revealed the man had an active warrant of arrest. He was transported to the police department, where he was picked up to by members of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Department.

First of all, I don't understand why teachers are paying for anything out of pocket when the supplyRead More lists that parents receive at the end of the summer are as long as their arms. Secondly, SOCIETY lets the kids down?!?!? I think the school taxes in Yorktown should be sufficient so that the teachers don't have to pay any out-of-pocket expenses. SOCIETY does not let the kids down, it is those who are in control of the school tax monies who let the kids down. Perhaps the administrators should take salary cuts, or maybe we should even eliminate some of those administrative positions. No teacher should have to pay for supplies out of pocket.
