Police: Woman Steals Clothing from Macy's; Man Gets Stuck in Snow, Gets Arrested

Woman Steals Clothing

An 18-year-old Mahopac woman is facing criminal charges for stealing clothing from Macy's, Yorktown police said.

The teen, whose name police did not release, was charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor. On Dec. 28, 2012 police received a call from Macy’s security reporting a shoplifter in custody.

The woman, who was accompanied by another woman, exited Macy’s without attempting to pay for assorted Polo clothing valued at $268.98, police said. 

The 18-year-old teen was arrested, released and scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Court on Feb. 12.

Yorktown Domestic Dispute

A 63-year-old Yorktown man has been charged with second-degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor, after he violated an order of protection, police said. 

Police said they received a call from a Pines Bridge resident on Dec. 28, 2012 reporting a domestic dispute. Fyler had approached and spoken with the person that same day in violation of a temporary order of protection, police said.  

Fyler voluntarily appeared at police headquarters on Dec. 29, 2012 when he was arrested. He was later released and scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Court on Jan. 15.

Being Stuck in the Snow Leads to Arrest

When police received a report about a disoriented man in the driveway of a Curry Street residence, police discovered he had driven his vehicle with a suspended driver's license. 

On Dec. 29, 2012 police said when they got to the scene they revealed that the vehicle of 34-year-old Richard Brito had gotten stuck in the snow in the driveway of the home when he attempted to turn his vehicle around. 

A routine check with the Department of Motor Vehicle revealed the Bronx man had been driving with a suspended driver's license. He was placed under arrest and later released on $250 cash bail.

He was scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Court on Feb. 12. 

Aggravated Unlicensed Operation

A 21-year-old Cortlandt Manor man has been charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, Yorktown police said.

Omar Hassan's vehicle was stopped on Jan. 5 for speeding on Route 202. He was placed under when police revealed his license was suspended. Hassan was released on $100 cash bail. He was scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 19.  

Man Speeds, Drives with Suspended License

A 79-year-old Yonkers man is due in court later this month to answer charges of driving with a suspended driver's license, Yorktown police said. 

Marcelino Gonzalez was charged on Dec. 19 with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, and speeding, a traffic infraction. The man was released without bail and scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 31.
