Police: Woman Fails to Appear in Court, Man Violates Order of Protection

Peekskill Woman Fails to Answer Petty Larceny Charge in Court

An 18-year-old Peekskill woman has been charged with failure to respond to an appearance ticket, a violation, Yorktown police said. 

Police said they received a call on Oct. 6 from the City of Peekskill Police Department reporting they had stopped a woman, who had an active arrest warrant issued out of the Yorktown Justice Court.

Officer Michael Kahn responded to Peekskill police headquarters and placed the woman under arrest. The woman, whose name police did not release, failed to appear for arraignment in Yorktown Town Court on June 5, or 30 days thereafter in reference to a petty larceny arrest.

She was remanded to the Westchester County Jail on $500 bail. She was due in court on Oct. 9.

Man Speeds on Route 6, Arrested for Driving with Suspended License

An 18-year-old Cortlandt Manor man, who was stopped for speeding on Route 6, has been arrested for driving with a suspended driver's license, Yorktown police said. 

The man, whose name police did not release due to eligibility for youthful offender status, was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor; and speeding in zone, a traffic infraction.

Police said he was driving 75 mph in a posted 45-mph zone when he was stopped on Oct. 4 on Route 6, near Mountain Brook Road. 

The man was released to a family member and scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 8.  

Man Violates Order of Protection

A 21-year-old Yorktown Heights man has been arrested for violating an order of protection, Yorktown police said. 

He was charged with second-degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor.

Police investigated a possible domestic dispute in front of a Leland Drive home on Oct. 4 and revealed the man was at the residence in violation of a duly served town of Yorktown Justice Court order of protection.

The man was remanded to the Westchester County Jail, in lieu of $5,000 bail. He was scheduled to appear in the Yorktown Town Court on Oct. 18.

First of all, I don't understand why teachers are paying for anything out of pocket when the supplyRead More lists that parents receive at the end of the summer are as long as their arms. Secondly, SOCIETY lets the kids down?!?!? I think the school taxes in Yorktown should be sufficient so that the teachers don't have to pay any out-of-pocket expenses. SOCIETY does not let the kids down, it is those who are in control of the school tax monies who let the kids down. Perhaps the administrators should take salary cuts, or maybe we should even eliminate some of those administrative positions. No teacher should have to pay for supplies out of pocket.
