Police: Woman, 45, Steals $79 Worth of Items from Sears

$79 Worth of Items Stolen from Sears

A 45-year-old Montrose woman has been arrested for stealing items from Sears, Yorktown police said. 

Cynthia Garcia was charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor. Police said they received a report about a shoplifter on Jan. 8. Investigation revealed the woman had stolen $79 worth of merchandise from store displays and exited Sears without paying for the items. 

The woman was taken to the police department, later released and scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Court on Feb. 21. 

Teen Punches Victim in the Face

A 17-year-old Hopewell Junction teen has been charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor. 

Police said the teen, whose name they did not release, had punched a male victim in the face during a dispute in a parking lot on East Main Street on Jan. 11. The teen voluntarily appeared at police headquarters the next day when he was processed.

He was later released without bail and scheduled to appear in court.

Disorderly Conduct Case Gets Disposed of

A 25-year-old Cortlandt Manor man's disorderly conduct case has been disposed of, Yorktown police said.

Police said Judge Raniolo issued a bench warrant for the man's arrest on Jan. 3 after he failed to appear in court and answer a disorderly conduct charge, a violation. On Jan. 10, the man voluntarily surrendered himself.

He was taken to the court where he paid a fine and his case was disposed of, police said.

First of all, I don't understand why teachers are paying for anything out of pocket when the supplyRead More lists that parents receive at the end of the summer are as long as their arms. Secondly, SOCIETY lets the kids down?!?!? I think the school taxes in Yorktown should be sufficient so that the teachers don't have to pay any out-of-pocket expenses. SOCIETY does not let the kids down, it is those who are in control of the school tax monies who let the kids down. Perhaps the administrators should take salary cuts, or maybe we should even eliminate some of those administrative positions. No teacher should have to pay for supplies out of pocket.
