Police: "If You See Something, Say Something" Following Recent Crimes to Local Businesses

Patrol of the Yorktown business district has been increased following a string of recent crimes to local businesses in town.

Residents and local business owners are being asked to "say something" if they "see something" following a string of recent crimes to local businesses in town. 

In a memo, police said patrol of the Yorktown business district has been increased and the  has alerted local businesses of crimes that were recently committed.

  • Garage glass windows were broken at Meadows Farm on April 8 and police said they believe the crime had been committed overnight.  
  • A side door window was also broken at the Yorktown Highway Department at or about 1:50 a.m. on April 9. 
  • were reported on April 10 at Underhill Plaza and Turco's when cardboard within or near exterior dumpsters was ignited. Both incidents occurred between 12:15 a.m. and 1:30 a.m.  
  • The  "sign" was broken on April 10 between 12:30 a.m. and 6 a.m.  

The Yorktown Police Department requests that all suspicious incidents and people be reported immediately by calling 914-962-4141 or "911" if a crime is in fact being committed.

"Merchants are also asked to review any videotape from the above time frames and notify the Yorktown Police Department Detective Division that video does exist for viewing," Yorktown Police Lt. Noble said.
