Police: Falsified DMV Paperwork Used to Scrap Stolen Car

Peekskill man charged in Yorktown with filling out documentation falsely.

A Peekskill man has been charged with filling out false documention that allowed a stolen car to be scrapped, according to Yorktown Police.

Police believe Donald Benedetto, 38, of 932 Washington St., Peekskill was unaware that the car involved was stolen. However, police said he was cited for third-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, a misdemeanor, in connection with an incident that took place on Nov. 13.

Police said Benedetto is accused of filling out a state Department of Motor Vehicles abandoned vehicle form while towing a car from the Dunkin Donuts on Crompound Road in Yorktown. The car, police said, was later found to have been stolen.

The false paperwork, according to police, allowed the stolen vehicle to be crushed at a metal recycing center.

Bendetto was charged after he went to Yorktown Police Headquarters in connection with the investigation. He was released pending a Jan. 22 hearing in Yorktown Town Court.

First of all, I don't understand why teachers are paying for anything out of pocket when the supplyRead More lists that parents receive at the end of the summer are as long as their arms. Secondly, SOCIETY lets the kids down?!?!? I think the school taxes in Yorktown should be sufficient so that the teachers don't have to pay any out-of-pocket expenses. SOCIETY does not let the kids down, it is those who are in control of the school tax monies who let the kids down. Perhaps the administrators should take salary cuts, or maybe we should even eliminate some of those administrative positions. No teacher should have to pay for supplies out of pocket.
