Police: Cortlandt Manor Woman Steals $700 Worth of Clothing, Bags from Sears

A 51-year-old Cortlandt Manor woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing more than $700 worth of clothing and bags from Sears in Yorktown, police said. 

Ellen M. Cottrell was charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor. 

She was arrested on Sept. 18 when police received a call from Sears security personnel who reporting a shoplifter in custody. Cottrell allegedly exited Sears without attempting to pay for assorted clothing and tote bags valued at $722.95, police said.

The woman was scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Court on Oct. 23.
