Police Arrest Second Indian Point Employee in Equipment Theft Investigation

Christopher Albea, 40, of Wappingers Falls, was arrested and charged with third-degree grand larceny after he allegedly stole more than $10,000 worth of copper wiring from the Indian Point Energy Center.

A 40-year-old maintenance worker at the Indian Point Energy Center in Buchanan was arrested this morning as part of a state police investigation into equipment theft at the nuclear power plant.

Police arrested Christopher Albea at his home in Wappingers Falls at 8:40 a.m. and charged him third-degree grand larceny, a felony. Albea, who was employed in Indian Point’s maintenance department, allegedly stole several thousand pounds of copper wire, valued at more than $10,000, from the site and sold it to a Dutchess County scrap yard for several thousand dollars in cash.

Police said this arrest is connected to a similar arrest that was made on 33-year-old Tarrytown resident Theodore Kozelka on Jan. 11.

Albea was arraigned and sent to Westchester County Jail with bail set at $1,000. He is scheduled to appear in Buchanan village court on Jan. 29.

Police ask anyone with information regarding thefts at Indian Point to contact them at (914) 737-7171.

Looks like some of that copper wire rubbed off on his goatee. And his right eye is much larger than his left, almost as if the two sides to his face don't go together. All that copper probably poisoned one of his eyes.

Where is security?

If you can remove that much copper from a locked down facility; what else can you remove? This is one place that needs a full blown security audit by the State Attorney General and it needs it now!l.

I've heard that everyone has a good and bad side for photographs, but this guy really demonstrates it well. The lack of continuity of his facial components in relation to the left and right sides, coupled with his poor choice of facial hair, makes for a truly interesting study in mug shots.

I wonder if you can ask for a re-take on your mugshot?
