Peekskill Police arrested a 42-year-old Shrub Oak man after they saw him participate in a drug deal, officials said.
Officer Carl Demarco made the arrest at about 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29. He was conducting surveillance on the 900 block of South Street when he "observed a drug transaction between two males," according to a statement from the department.
"When the transaction was complete, one of the males entered a vehicle and drove from the scene," police said. "Officer Demarco followed behind and stopped this subject at the corner of Broad Street and Main Street when he observed him violate a vehicle and traffic law. A check of the subject’s license revealed that his driving privileges were currently suspended for failure to pay fines from previous traffic summonses. The subject ... was arrested and found to be in possession of crack cocaine."
The defendant is facing two misdemeanor charges: seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He is due back in court Feb. 10.
