Owner Denies Driving in Taconic DWI Crash: Police

He refused a breath test after investigators concluded the person he named had not been the driver.

At 02:41AM March 30, Troopers from the state police barracks in Hawthorne arrested a Yorktown man for driving while intoxicated, falsifying business records 2nd, and falsely reporting an incident 3rd subsequent to a property damage auto accident that occurred on the southbound Taconic State Parkway in Yorktown.

Police said the Yorktown Heights resident falsely reported that another person had driven his Mercedes Benz and left the scene of the accident. Also, he completed an accident report and led Troopers to investigate the accusations, giving Troopers the supposed driver's name, address, and telephone number.

After Troopers investigated the allegations and spoke with the accused driver, it was then confirmed that the Mercedes Benz owner was in fact the driver.

He refused to provide a breath sample and was issued appearance tickets on the misdemeanor charges for Town of Yorktown Court, returnable on April 10.
