Man, Woman Injured in Serious Car Accident in Mohegan Lake

The two drivers are being treated at local hospitals and they're expected to recover from their non-life threatening injuries.

A man and a woman are being treated at local hospitals for injuries they sustained in a two-vehicle accident on Route 6 in Mohegan Lake shortly before 6:30 p.m. Monday, state police said.

The woman driver of a Subaru and the male driver of a Mercedes Benz were headed in opposite directions when they collided near Regina Avenue on Route 6, police said.

The man, who was transported to the Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortlandt, sustained minor injuries. Police have yet to speak to the woman, who was transported to the Westchester County Medical Center. Police did not identify the victims, but described the man and woman to be middle-aged.

Lake Mohegan firefighters used four different tools to help them extricate the man and woman from their vehicles, First Assistant Fire Chief Adam Cerrato said. He said both victims are expected to recover from their non-life threatening injuries.

In addition to Lake Mohegan firefighters, other responding agencies were Lake Mohegan Ambulance Corps, Yorktown and Peekskill paramedics, county and state police.

Route 6 was closed from Lexington Avenue to Westbrook Drive in Mohegan Lake.

First of all, I don't understand why teachers are paying for anything out of pocket when the supplyRead More lists that parents receive at the end of the summer are as long as their arms. Secondly, SOCIETY lets the kids down?!?!? I think the school taxes in Yorktown should be sufficient so that the teachers don't have to pay any out-of-pocket expenses. SOCIETY does not let the kids down, it is those who are in control of the school tax monies who let the kids down. Perhaps the administrators should take salary cuts, or maybe we should even eliminate some of those administrative positions. No teacher should have to pay for supplies out of pocket.
