A 24-year-old Jefferson Valley man, who allegedly failed to appear in court, faces additional criminal charges after said he allegedly resisted arrest and was found in possession of a hypodermic syringe.
A bench warrant was issued for David C. Vazquez on April 12 after he allegedly failed to appear in in reference to a past petty larceny arrest. When police showed up at his Perry Street home on April 30, Vazquez allegedly fled the scene on foot.
Police officers pursued the defendant and placed him under arrest in a wooded area on Wood Street. That's when he was allegedly found to be in possession of a hypodermic syringe.
Vazquez was charged with criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors.
The man was remanded to the Westchester County jail on $5,000 bail and scheduled to appear in court on May 3.
