Employee Steals $1,347 from Yorktown Business

Brian Bechtold was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony.

A 34-year-old Dutchess County man is due in court to answer charges that he stole more than $1,000 while working at a Yorktown business, police said. 

Brian Bechtold of LaGrangeville was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony. 

Yorktown police began investigating a complaint from AutoParts International, located at 3333 Crompond Road. Police said the man had stolen $1,347.50 from the store between Jan. 2 and April 4.

"It is further alleged that Bechtold was keeping money from cash sales and was conducting fraudulent returns during that time period," police said in a statement.

Bechtold voluntarily appeared at Yorktown police headquarters on April 12. He was released and scheduled to appear in court on May 14.
