Employee Makes False Return, Generates $214 Store Gift Card

A 48-year-old Crompond woman is due in court next month to answer criminal charges for making a false return of merchandise to generate a store gift card for personal use while she worked as an employee at K-Mart, Yorktown police said.

Police said the woman was working as a store cashier when she made the false return on Oct. 31 in the amount of $214.74.

She was arrested on Dec. 12 and charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor.

The woman was processed and released without bail. She was scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Court on Jan. 14, 2014.
