Cops: Yorktown Man, 20, Holds Lit Marijuana Cigarette in Vehicle

A 20-year-old Yorktown man is facing criminal charges for holding a lit marijuana cigarette in his hand while in public, Yorktown police said.

The man was observed sitting in his car in the parking lot of the Shell gas station, located on East Main Street, on Sept. 18. He was holding the lit marijuana cigarette, police said.

When the vehicle exited the parking lot, a traffic stop was initiated on Route 6 and the man was arrested, according to a police report.

He was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor. The man was released and scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Court on Oct. 15.
