Cops: Woman Charged with DWI, Had Twice Over Legal Drink Limit

A 64-year-old Yonkers woman if facing criminal charges for driving drunk and having a blood alcohol level of more than twice the legal limit, Yorktown police said.

Police said the woman's vehicle, a 2009 Toyota, was stuck in a ditch on Oct. 13 and she was seen attempting to back out at the intersection of Route 129 and Underhill Avenue.

When police officer Swart approached the vehicle in an effort to assist the driver, he determined she had been driving while intoxicated.

The woman was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing. She was additionally charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated for driving with a blood alcohol content more than twice the legal limit.

She was also charged with failing to maintain lane, a traffic infraction.

The woman was released to a family member and scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Court on Nov. 14.
