Poll: Are You Dedicating Time to Cyber Monday Shopping?

Will you be shopping at your computer for a few hours today or none at all—take our poll below.

If here in the Hudson Valley is any indication, not many of you hit the stores on Black Friday. According to the almost 200 people surveyed, 79 percent answered “No way—too many crowds and too much hype” to the question of whether or not they go shopping on Black Friday.

But is Cyber Monday—where you don’t have to deal with the crowds or lines—different? According to comScore, in 2010: “Cyber Monday reached $1.028 billion in online spending, up 16 percent versus year ago, representing the heaviest online spending day in history and the first to surpass the billion-dollar threshold.”

And this holiday season, according to release on Careerbuilder.com survey,"...nearly a quarter (24 percent) of workers who holiday shop online expect to spend two or more hours doing so this year."

It got us wondering what local residents are doing: Will you take some time out today to scoop up online deals? Or are you skipping this Cyber Monday completely?

But do take note: "If you are among the 30 percent of workers who have or plan to holiday shop online while at work this year, career advisors recommend making purchases during your lunch hour or break time," according to the Careerbuilder.com survey release.

First of all, I don't understand why teachers are paying for anything out of pocket when the supplyRead More lists that parents receive at the end of the summer are as long as their arms. Secondly, SOCIETY lets the kids down?!?!? I think the school taxes in Yorktown should be sufficient so that the teachers don't have to pay any out-of-pocket expenses. SOCIETY does not let the kids down, it is those who are in control of the school tax monies who let the kids down. Perhaps the administrators should take salary cuts, or maybe we should even eliminate some of those administrative positions. No teacher should have to pay for supplies out of pocket.
