Lakeland Alum Deanna Tozzo Named Tennis All-Independent By AD3I

In recognition of outstanding achievements on the tennis court in the 2013 season, The College of New Rochelle’s Deanna Tozzo (Shrub Oak, NY/Lakeland HS) has been named to the inaugural women’s tennis All-Independent team, as was announced by the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) Thursday.

Tozzo, a sophomore, was a two-time AD3I Player of the Week, and was one of just two underclassmen to be selected All-Independent.  Playing at #1 singles and #1 doubles for the Blue Angels, she led the team in wins in each category as well as overall for the season.  The native of Shrub Oak, New York adds this accolade to the HVIAC All-Conference Team honors she received for the second straight season after advancing to the HVIAC Tournament Semifinals for the second consecutive season at # 1 singles and doubles.

The women’s tennis coaches from the Association of Division III Independents member schools selected the All-Independent Women’s tennis team.
