Visiting Hours are June 8 for Carmela Sica

Carmela E. Sica, 89, of Somers, NY. "Cam" passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and best friend on June 4, 2014. Born April 6, 1925 in New London, Connecticut to Remigia (Racine) and Peter Yaiullo. Residing 22 years in New London with her three siblings, she met her true love, Nicholas, a G.I. returning from WWII.

Carmela resided in Bedford for over 30 years and was actively involved in her community and church. She was a member of St. Patrick's Ladies Auxiliary, a religious instruction educator and Eucharist minister. She was actively involved in the PTA and school fundraisers. Cam loved her books spending her quiet times engrossed in their richness. Family gatherings were most important to her and she made any excuse to have everyone together. Cam spent the first half of marriage to Nicholas creating a solid family foundation to raise five active children. She concurrently travelled the world and represented her husband at major functions while his career took him from errand boy to President.

Carmela is survived by her four children: Roseann (Walter), Barbara (Mark), Richard (Andrea) and Glen (Kristy); her ten grandchildren: Brian, Robin, Mark Dean, Lauren, Alexandra, Megan, Kimberly, Nicholas, Christopher and Jonathan; her sister, Dora Barbaria and brother, Joseph Yaiullo. Cam was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Nicholas, her oldest son, Dennis and her sister, Agnes Suscello.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, June 8, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Clark Associates Funeral Home, Katonah, NY. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am on Monday, June 9, 2014 at St. Patrick's RC Church, 7 Pound Ridge Road, Bedford, NY. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Mount Kisco. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Hospice Care of Westchester & Putnam, 540 White Plains Road, Suite 300, Tarrytown, NY 10591. The family would like to extend our sincerest appreciation to Hospice and her caregiver, Ingrid, for allowing our beloved mother to transition in beautiful peaceful manner.
