Services for Richard L. Tocci Set for July 18

From the Yorktown Funeral Home: 

Richard L. Tocci born on 11/18/1936 passed away on 7/14/2013 after a fierce 2 years battle with cancer.  Tocci was a long time resident of Yonkers, lived in Palm Coast Flordia but due to his illness was residing in Yorktown Heights, surrounded by family.

He leaves behind his devoted and beloved wife Armande. His two adoring loving daughters Angela (husband Ron Lamanna) and Dina (husband Mark Morra). Mother of daughters- Kathy Tocci. Adored grandfather to Gabriella and Gianna Morra. Two stepchildren Manon (Aldo) and Jackie (husband Stephan). Beloved grandfather to Lou and baby Ella. Manon sons Yanic and Jean Daniel. Richard is also survived by his brothers; Eddie, Benny, Andy, Albert Isadore, and sister Elizabeth Pollack.

He is predeceased by his parents; Isadore and Rose Tocci, brothers; Veto, Eugene (Chief), Joseph (Skippy), Angela Vetrano (Tootsie), Camille Abbondola (Mela), Rose Olshakowski. Richard Tocci was a proud American veteran of the US Navy from 1954-1957 and then transferred to the reserves from 57-61.

Richard Tocci was good at many trades he worked as a florist, carpenter, and finally retired as a respected, admired, and dedicated Yonkers Police Officer with over 25 years of service. Many knew him in Yonkers simply as “Richie the cop."

He was extremely loved and admired for his work in the Police Athletic League; his travels to the Empire Games with his boxers was one of the many highlights of his longtime career.

Tocci was loved by young and old, poor or rich he had a knack for making you smile and finding a resolution to a problem no matter how trivial. Richie and his late wife Sharon also had a love for dogs- they bred and showed champion Dobermans for many years under the American Canine Kennel Club “Sunset Dobermans”. Richard had many loves, such as the love of laughter, he loved to joke with his son in laws and spoke to his brother Al and Izzy daily.

He will be sorely missed by his golf buddies at Sprain Lake and Grasshoppers crew.

Tribute to his life to be held at Yorktown Funeral home on Thursday July 18, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9pm. Mass will be held on Friday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church 1377 East Main Street, Shrub Oak, NY 10588 at 11am.

In lieu of flowers the family requests charitable donations in his memory to American Cancer Society or Calvary Hospital Fund Inc. 1740 Eastchester Road, Bronx NY 10461
