John G. Gaffney, of Yorktown, Dies at 84

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation in John Gaffney's memory. He was member of the Yorktown Knights of Columbus and a former Commissioner of the Mohansic Boy Club.

From the Yorktown Funeral Home: John G. Gaffney of Yorktown Heights passed away on Jan. 7. He was 84. 

Gaffney was born on Sept. 27, 1928 in New Haven, CT to John and Alice Gaffney. He served honorably in the US Army during the Korean War. Gaffney married Elaine Thibeault on June 23, 1956 in West Haven, CT. They later settled in Yorktown to raise their family.

The man retired from the Cable News sales department and was member of the Yorktown Knights of Columbus and a former Commissioner of the Mohansic Boy Club.

He is survived by his wife Elaine, three sons; Dennis (Linda), Donald, and Robert (Debra), and four grandchildren; Matthew, Jaclyn, DJ, and Andrew.

Family will receive friends at the Yorktown Funeral Home on Thursday, Jan. 10 from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Patrick’s Church (stone) at 11 a.m.
