Florence Lorraine Gregory, of Yorktown, Dies at 88

From the Yorktown Funeral Home: Florence Lorraine Gregory, better known as Tootsie, passed away on Dec. 14. She was 88. 

Gregory was born on April 28, 1925 in the Bronx to Denis and Mary O’Meara. She married Daniel J. Gregory on Nov. 24, 1945 at the Immaculate Conception Church in the Bronx. In 1959 they moved to Yorktown to raise their family where she was a loving, caring and devoted wife and mother.

The woman was involved with St. Patrick’s School in Yorktown when her children were of school age and in the ensuing years. Her entire family was her life and her joy.

Gregory is survived by seven children, William (Catherine), Barbara Stephens (Robert), Daniel (Wendy), Kevin (Alice),Mary Ann, Denise Chiacchia (William), Catherine Walkes(Peter), her sister Cecelia Nayden (John), brother-in-law Thaddeus Lemanski, cousin Audrey Collins, 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Daniel, her son John and her siblings Catherine, Thomas (Barbara) and Rev. William O’Meara and Julia Lemanski.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 18 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.. Mass of Christian burial will take place at St. Patrick’s Church on Thursday, Dec. 19 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Amawalk Hill Cemetery.
