Anita Pancotto, Active Somers Community Member, Dies

The woman worked at PepsiCo for 15 years and was an active member of the Heritage Hills Community in Somers. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northern Westchester and Putnam.

Anita (Armida) (nee Spidalieri) Pancotto, of Somers, and formerly of Irvington died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Dec. 15.

Pancotto was born in New York City to Giovanni and Erminia (Mastragostino) Spidalieri. She was an Executive Secretary at the Franciscan Missions in Mt. Vernon while she raised her young family. She later retired from PepsiCo in Somers after working in the Legal, Public Relations and Consumer Affairs Department for 15 years.

The woman grew up in the Bronx and graduated from Christopher Columbus High School. She married Michael Pancotto in 1953 and moved to Mt. Vernon where she began raising their two children, John Raymond and Christine. In Mt. Vernon, Pancotto was active in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and was a leader and a member of the Little Flower Altar Society. The family then moved to Irvington where she raised her family and began working for Pepsi in both the Purchase and later the Somers location. After the passing of her beloved husband Michael, Pancotto moved to Somers and joined the Heritage Hills Community. 

Pancotto was an active member of the Heritage Hills Community. She participated in many organizations and clubs; she served as recording Secretary of Condo Board 16 and served as the cluster captain and was the event planner for the Ciao Italia Club, she also enjoyed bowling and bocce and trips to the casinos with her friends at Heritage Hills.

The woman will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and for her kind and compassionate nature and positive outlook and love of life.

She was predeceased by her husband, Michael and is survived by her children, John (Patty) Pancotto and Christine (Gary) Boyd and her grandchildren, John and Anthony Pancotto and Megan and Michael Kraiza and James Boyd. She was predeceased by her sister, Matilda Kiernan and brother, Bruno Spidalieri. 

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20 at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Rd. in Katonah. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, Dec. 21 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Croton Falls.

Internment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northern Westchester and Putnam, 540 White Plains Rd, Ste. 300, Tarrytown, NY 10591.
