MHA Westchester Announces 2012 Honorees

The Mental Health Association of Westchester (MHA) is delighted to announce the 2012 honorees who were selected for their unwavering commitment to mental health and inspired vision for the future.

The Mental Health Association of Westchester (MHA) is delighted to announce our 2012 honorees. These individuals were selected for their unwavering commitment to mental health and inspired vision for the future. They will be recognized at the annual benefit, Autumn On The Hudson, which is taking place on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at 6:30 pm at X2O’S in Yonkers.

Georganne Chapin, President/CEO and Hudson Health Plan will receive th MHA Corporate Philanthropy Award for leading the way in delivering integrated person-centered comprehensive health care coverage to more than 115,000 low income people in the Hudson Valley.

John B. Allen, Special Assistant to the Commissioner,  NYS Office of Mental Health will receive the MHA Phoenix Award for his visionary leadership and creation of new and innovative services for people recovering from mental health conditions.

Mary Beth Morrissey, PhD, MPH, JD, MHA Board Member and President, Collaborative for Palliative Care, will receive the MHA on the move Award in recognition of her contributions in the field of mental health policy, research on mental illness and her six years of service on MHA's board.

Kathie Collins, MHA Volunteer will receive the MHA Spirit Award for her passionate and effective advocacy as a CASA volunteer on behalf of children in the foster care system.

Sponsors of the event include Caspi Development Company, O’Connor Davies, LLP and RXR Realty. Honorary Chairs are Senator Andrea Stewart Cousins and Mayor of Yonkers Mike Spano.

Event Chairs are Elizabeth and Steven Caspi.

MHA is the premier mental health agency in Westchester, serving more than 20,000 adults and children each year through advocacy, community education and direct services, with priority given to those with limited access to other resources.

First of all, I don't understand why teachers are paying for anything out of pocket when the supplyRead More lists that parents receive at the end of the summer are as long as their arms. Secondly, SOCIETY lets the kids down?!?!? I think the school taxes in Yorktown should be sufficient so that the teachers don't have to pay any out-of-pocket expenses. SOCIETY does not let the kids down, it is those who are in control of the school tax monies who let the kids down. Perhaps the administrators should take salary cuts, or maybe we should even eliminate some of those administrative positions. No teacher should have to pay for supplies out of pocket.
