Why Are Mahopac Schools Closed Friday, February 14th?

Weather reports indicate that snow will pick up again after 10:00 p.m. tonight, Thursday, February 13th, and continue through 4 a.m. on Friday, February 14th.

Our plow and sidewalk crews have been busy all day and most of the evening preparing for some sort of school session tomorrow and if it stopped snowing now, the district would be jin good shape. I"m sure that you have seen our town crews at work, too. I commend all of our school and town crews for their efforts.

However, if as forecast, the snow picks up and the district receives another four to six inches of snow throughout the night, the district and community just would not be able to have school. Therefore, in anticipation of this additional snow, Mahopac Central will be closed tomorrow, Friday, February 14th. All transportation, after school and evening activities are cancelled.

Given that Friday represents the eighth snow day used this school year, please note that school will be in session next week, February 19th, 20th and 21st. School will also be in session on Friday, May 23rd.

May you and your families be healthy, safe and warm.---Thomas J. Manko, superintendent
