Mahopac Student Musicians to Play with the Pros at Gala Anniversary Concert

Mahopac High School, middle school and elementary school musicians will perform with the pros at the Putnam Arts Council’s 50th Anniversary Gala Concert, featuring Westchester Symphonic Winds, on November 21st at 7:30 pm at Mahopac High School.

“The students realize that this is a serious musical event and that a professional musician will be sitting next to them, which has some of them a little bit nervous,” said Mahopac High School teacher Richard Williams. “But nervousness is a natural reaction to performing on stage and can help get you focused.”

The evening will begin with a performance by the WSW, after which the professional group will be joined by members of the high school, middle school and elementary school bands.

“This is a great opportunity for our band students,” said Williams. “They will get to hear their instrument played by a professional musician and pick up some pointers and new ideas as well. Many of the things that are taught to the students in class will be reinforced by the musicians in the WSW. This concert is also a great opportunity for students and parents alike to see the band program in Mahopac from elementary school to middle school to high school.”

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students, seniors and parents of performers. Tickets are available online at PutnamArtsCouncil.com.
