Katz on Efforts to Make New York Business Friendly State

Assemblyman Steve Katz Acknowledges NFIB Endorsement, Pledges Further Efforts toward Small Business Agenda

Building upon his recently-announced endorsement from the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB), Assemblyman Steve Katz spent the morning alongside Putnam County Executive Mary Ellen Odell and small businesswoman Isabella Rufa to outline the state of small business in New York.

The event took place at Rufa’s recently opened business, Recine Decorating Design, located in Mahopac.

The Assemblyman acknowledged his recent endorsement from the NFIB and their acknowledgement of his constructive voting record on small-business issues.

The endorsement came from the NFIB/New York SAFE (Save America’s Free Enterprise) Trust, the political action committee for NFIB/New York’s membership. The endorsement places considerable grassroots support from New York State small businesses behind the Katz campaign.

“New York simply isn’t a business-friendly state, there is much room for improvement,” said Steve Katz. “Oppressive taxes and lack of support compel hundreds of thousands of New York Entrepreneurs to wonder whether the State really values their contribution to the economy.”

Several key pieces of pro-business legislation that attracted Dr. Katz’ attention includes:

  • Bill A.4783: An act to create a New York state consortium on the development of a hydrogen economy.
  • Bill A.5145-A: An act to amend the New York State Urban Development Corporation Act, in relation to creating the Dairy Farm Improved Energy Efficiency Program.
  • Bill A.5149-B: Legislation to provide capital grants of up to one hundred thousand dollars to small businesses to encourage and support innovative energy and environmental technology development and commercialization.
  • Bill A.8036: An act to create a directory of technical and financial assistance programs for small businesses, minority and women owned business enterprises

Dr. Steve Katz currently serves the 99th Assembly district and is running for reelection to this seat, which has been redistricted as the 94th. Small business owners and their families are an essential element of the electorate.
