Many thanks to the shoppers, vendors, charities, businesses and local VIP's who came out to welcome the farmers' market in Yorktown. We couldn't have asked for better weather, sunny and warm, a perfect spring day.
At 9 a.m. Supervisor Michael Grace cut the yellow ribbon spanning the entry gates to the firehouse field on Veterans Road for the ceremonial opening. Patti from Fieldhome gave away re-usable bags to the early shoppers, followed by Rich Lopes and Rich Bobe giving away 100 Patch bags. (thank you, Plamena!)
Shoppers enjoyed meeting all the farmers/vendors and sampling their large variety of products. From produce to pickles, soaps to sauces, meats, honey, cheeses, baked goods and more there truly was something for everyone!
The Teen Center provided the crowd with entertainment. Zerena showcased her abundant talent singing and playing guitar under the pavilion.
This Saturday, May 26 we will welcome additional vendors. Celtic Farms and Nursery from Shrub Oak, Trotta's House of Pasta from Thornwood, and Gluten Free Dessert Kitchen from Harmony Hill of Clermont will join us.
Please enjoy the pictures from opening day. Be sure to stop by the manager's tent for the cookbook exchange (bring a gently used book to trade for one from our "library"). Feel free to tell us what you like or dislike about the market- we are happy to listen. We value your suggestions- its YOUR market Yorktown!
