Jason's Army Hosts 5K in Yorktown

State Senator Greg Ball (R, C, I – Patterson) joined Jason Needle (center) and the McDonough family at Jason’s Army 5K on Saturday at Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park in Yorktown Heights.

Jason Needle is a 33-year-old man from Mahopac, NY who has inspired countless people with his positivity and can-do attitude throughout his battle with acute myeloid leukemia. Jason put together the 5K to thank the McDonough Foundation for their help with his on going battle with cancer.

The Jimmy McDonough Foundation is a non-profit organization that assists local cancer patients who may be unable to work while going through treatment. Jimmy McDonough, of Mahopac, lost his battle to cancer in 2005. Although he was fortunate enough to have the financial ability to cover his medical bills as well as the emotional support from his friends and family, many who are stricken by cancer do not have those types of support. Money raised by the foundation goes to helping those battling cancer pay for medical bills, rent, mortgage payments, heating oil, and wigs, among other expenses.
