Members of the Yorktown men's flag football league will hold their second annual Run-N-Gun Shootout tournament on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to raise money for two organization.

Players will compete in a 6 v. 6 tournament to raise awareness and money for Hope for the Warriors, which supports veterans and family members coping with returning to civilian life and the recovery from PTSD, injury, and even loss; and Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, which continues to fight for a cure against the debilitating diseases impacting millions of Americans every day.

"This time of year is always very special with the holiday season in full swing and families and friends coming together," Yorktown Parks and Recreation Assistant Superintendent Todd Orlowski said.

The men’s flag football community has veterans playing in the league and found that Hope for the Warriors was a great organization to support. In addition, League Coordinator Russ Girolamo battles Crohn's and Colitis disease every day and is actively in the foundation.

"The day is very relaxed, brings all the participants together and showcases the talent of our local men’s flag football league," Orlowski said.

You don't have to play to join – come watch, have a hot dog and drop a dollar in the boot.

Local businesses – including Captain Lawrence Brewing Company, Somers Bagels, Nutt’in To It – along with the Yorktown Police Benevolent Association will help by providing supplies and gifts to offset the cost of the event.

The tournament is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Legacy Fields.
