Fund Seeks Help for Local 5-Year-Old Boy with Cancer

A fundraising effort has been dedicated to raising money for 5-year-old Evan Maher, of Putnam Valley, who was recently diagnosed with rhabdomysarcoma of the prostate and a small tumor in the lung.

The GoFundMe page has been set up online.

On the page the organizers posted pictures and updates about the boy's condition.

"This page is in support of a very special 5 year old young man named Evan Maher. Evan was recently diagnosed with rhabdomysarcoma of the prostate and a small tumor of the same in the lung. Due to this hardship the family would appreciate all the prayers and financial help possible. Anything donated will go towards Evan's care and the family's financial struggle they will endure over the next year. Evans mom will have to be by his side throughout this process which makes it to where she can not work. Be it a donation or a prayer we appreciate it all! Value everyday and be blessed!"

According to a recent post, Evan's masses have shrunk since he had to go back into the Westchester Medical Center about a month ago. The post urged people to keep the little boy in their prayers as he was having a hard time.

"Thank[s] everyone so very much for the prayers and donations," the update read. "They have gone a long way in his healing and allowing the family to focus on his care."
