Pleasantville Fire Department to Host Special Blood Drive

Fire, police and emergency personnel are well aware of the need for blood donations during this time of year.  Blood donations fall of dramatically right at the time when the number of holiday-related accidents, injuries and illnesses increases.  To help avert anticipated blood shortages during this holiday season, the Pleasantville Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting a special Holiday Blood Drive at the Pleasantville Fire House, 75 Washington Ave, on Tuesday, Dec. 28 from 2:30 pm - 8:30 pm.  Blood donors from all towns are welcome to come to support the drive.  Firemen, police officers, and EMS personnel are particularly encouraged to come.

This drive is inspired by the true story of a NY City firefighter, Jeffrey Cool, whose life was saved after a four-story fall during a Bronx building fire in January 2005.  He is here today and thriving, thanks to fire, police and emergency personnel, a team of surgeons and specialists, and the life-saving blood that was on hand at the time of his accident - blood from 72 anonymous donors!!!  We hope you, your friends and relatives will join us this holiday season to help replenish the blood supply which historically drops dangerously low at a time of year when it is needed the most.

To thank donors, the NY Mets will be providing each donor with two tickets to an early 2011 season game at Citifield.
