Flashlight Collection for Alabama Towns Destroyed by Tornados

The Town of Huckleburg, Alabama is one of the towns that has been destroyed by the recent tornados. Associate Member Anne Anderson of the Yorktown Heights Engine Company No. 1, wanted to do something, so she called the Chief of the Huckleburg Fire Department. When asked if there was anything that people can do to help, he requested flashlights with batteries for his residents.

With no power and many with no homes, his residents have been resorting to starting fires to see at night. With the current conditions in the town, the fires have become an extreme danger to the citizens.

Currently flashlights with batteries are being collected at the Yorktown Highway Department (281 Underhill Ave Yorktown Heights, NY 10598) until Friday May 13th, 2001. Anyone looking to donate flashlights with batteries can turn them in during normal business hours until Friday Evening.

We thank you for your support in helping those in dire need right now.
