Battle of Pines Bridge Monument Fundraiser

The Pines Bridge Monument Fundraising Committee will hold a fundraiser at Traveler's Rest (located at Route 100 in Yorktown) on Thursday, April 19 at 6:30 p.m. 

All proceeds will go to offset the cost for the Battle of Pines Bridge Monument, which depicts three figures in "heroic scale" standing eight feet tall. They represent soldiers participating in the 1781 battle including those of African American and Native American decent, as well as Colonel Christopher Greene, who led the battle.

The cost to attend the fundraiser is $100 per person, which will include appetizers, dinner and a cash bar. Seating is limited.

First of all, I don't understand why teachers are paying for anything out of pocket when the supplyRead More lists that parents receive at the end of the summer are as long as their arms. Secondly, SOCIETY lets the kids down?!?!? I think the school taxes in Yorktown should be sufficient so that the teachers don't have to pay any out-of-pocket expenses. SOCIETY does not let the kids down, it is those who are in control of the school tax monies who let the kids down. Perhaps the administrators should take salary cuts, or maybe we should even eliminate some of those administrative positions. No teacher should have to pay for supplies out of pocket.
