LYMPHEDEMA AFTER BREAST or GYNECOLOGICAL CANCERS

This
program will present the latest information on lymphedema, which is defined as
a swelling of a part of the body due to the buildup of lymph fluids, often in
the arm, leg face or neck, sometimes caused by cancer or its treatment. 



 Topics
will include: What is lymphedema and why does it occur; The incidence of lymphedema
after breast and ovarian cancer; Current recommendations for surveillance of
people at risk for developing breast cancer related lymphedema; Risk reduction
practices; Different treatment techniques. 



Speaker:
Jen Looby, MS, PT, CLT, Physical Therapist/Senior Certified Lymphedema
Therapist at Hudson Valley Hospital Center. Ms. Looby has a Bachelor of Health
Science degree from Mercy College and an MS degree in Physical Therapy from New
York Medical College. She obtained her Certification in Lymphedema Therapy from
Norton School of Lymphatics.
