Four Part Workshop: Fundamentals of Charcoal Drawing

Four Part Workshop: Fundamentals of
Charcoal Drawing  Mondays 12:00-2:00 pm
Four
Sessions, Jan 6, 13, 27 & Feb 3, 2014

Charcoal
is one of the oldest and most popular drawing mediums.  Its smooth, often soft, texture lends itself
well to quick gesture and subtle gradations. It is a useful and versatile drawing
tool, making it ideal for the beginning student.   The “Fundamentals of Charcoal” workshop will
provide the opportunity to explore the expressive quality of the charcoal
medium in both pencil and stick form. Students will choose from Still-life or
the human form to create line, blend tone, and render light and dark values.  Sponsored by the Friends of the Somers
Library.

Class size is limited and pre-registration is required.  Please call the library at  (914) 232-5717 or register online at www.somerslibrary.org.  Please cancel your registration if you cannot attend; allowing someone on the waiting list to take your place
