Letter to the Editor: Supervisor Grace 'Made Yorktown a Warmer, Better Place to Live'

Editor's Note: The following Letter to the Editor was written in its entirety by Lisa Grace, wife of Yorktown Supervisor Michael Grace.

___

During the almost two years my husband Michael Grace has been Supervisor of the Town of Yorktown, I have been very proud of his many accomplishments in that short time. As a wife and mother, I can see in my own family’s experiences the positive changes in our town … the greater sense of community …the number of family-oriented businesses that have opened … new festive events like the Holiday Parade of Lights -- all have made Yorktown a warmer, better place to live.

As a liaison to the teens and senior citizens of Yorktown, I have had the opportunity to get a first-hand feeling for the real effects Michael has had on our town. Seniors have expressed their gratitude for his stubbornly holding the line on taxes, and for his personal involvement with the various storm-related events. The younger generation in our town is encouraged by his open-door policy and his genuine desire to make their lives better by emphasizing youth–related programs and projects. The Teen Center is just one example. It is thriving with activities and events that are drawing all types of youngsters, helping to keep them out of harm’s way.

Michael’s open and bold leadership style has not only won the hearts of the people who work in Town Hall, but he has been able to maintain “Progress with Preservation” for Yorktown by creating consensus among Town Board members, including his opponent in the election for Supervisor.

While he is a wonderful father and husband, and maintains a law practice with his brother Bill, I recognize the extra effort, hard work and dedication Michael puts into the position of Supervisor. Our family appreciates him for all that he does and looks forward to his continuing these very positive things for our Yorktown. I hope you will elect my husband, Michael Grace, on Tuesday, November 5.
