Yorktown Woman Among 'Best Bosses' in Westchester
Cindy Rubino is the operating officer and vice president of government relations at Berkeley College in White Plains
Cindy Rubino is among 14 business and nonprofit leaders named by Westchester Magaznine as the county's "greatest leaders and bosses."
The magazine's staff solicited feedback on the area's leaders and found several who achieve results for their companies and organizations by "motivating their subordinates, eliciting the best ideas," and "encouraging top performance," among other criteria for the distinction.
Rubino, a Yorktown resident, is the operating officer and vice president of government relations at Berkeley College in White Plains. She walked into a position that had been occupied by 10 people in the last seven years and had the difficult task to turn "a disparate organization into a united campus, according to the magazine. This year, the White Plains campus won Berkeley’s Teamwork Award.

"Successful leaders are those who strive to help the employees understand the vital importance of the role they play no matter what level they’re at," Rubino told the magazine. "If you don’t understand why your job is important or what’s expected of you, how are you going to do your job well?"
The story describes Rubino as someone who wants to ensure everyone works together as one unit at the office and a woman who has the ability to pass her networking skills on to job seekers.
