Yorktown: The Calm Before The Storm
Tidal surges of up to 11 feet and wind gusts up to 75 mph are possible.
This Monday morning, although Hurricane Sandy is hours away from hitting New York, the roads are quiet, schools are closed and many businesses decided not to open for the day.
In Yorktown, the Lakeland and Yorktown school districts are closed on Monday and Tuesday. Somers schools are closed on Monday. The John C. Hart Memorial Library in Shrub Oak is closed both Monday and Tuesday. The Somers Library is closed on Monday due to the weather.
