Find out what's happening in Yorktown-Somerswith free, real-time updates from Patch.

The workshop will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the John C. Hart Memorial Library. It will be led by Jill Sitkin.

How does it work?: "A shape is cut out of the front of a piece of cardstock, and there is a pattern on a piece of paper with numbers on it which shows through the frame. Working from the back, you just follow along, arranging folded paper strips to create a design. When you turn the piece over you see a great image. You can then add other embellishments before attaching your piece to a blank greeting card, creating a wonderful piece of art that will be enjoyed and treasured - the recipient might even put it in a frame."

The program is free and open to the public. For information contact the Reference Desk or call 914-245-5262, ext. 227.
