With thousands out of power in Yorktown, downed wires and trees throughout the town, officials are warning residents to be careful when navigating the streets and keep travel to an absolute minimum.
"Our main concern is the downed trees and hanging wires," Yorktown Police Lt. Kevin Soravilla told Patch. This is a very serious and dangerous condition. Public should stay away from all downed trees and wires. Travel should be kept to an absolute minimum."
Drivers are asked to show courtesy especially at intersections.
"Being that the traffic control lights are out courtesy should be given to other motorists and extreme caution should be observed while approaching intersections," Lt. Soravilla said.
