Yorktown Lions Club Brings 'Snowflake Dance' Festivities to Seniors

Members treated Beaver Ridge residents to an evening of refreshments, musical entertainment, good conversation and a lot of dancing.

From the Yorktown Lions Club: The Yorktown Lions Club members hosted a Snowflake Dance for the residents of Beaver Ridge in Yorktown Heights on Feb. 12 when they brought the festivities to many of the residents who are unable to venture far from home.

The room was decorated with lighted snowflakes and the tables adorned with snowflakes. The residents enjoyed an evening of refreshments, musical entertainment, good conversation and a lot of dancing.

The food was provided by the Culinary Arts Program of the Graham Windham School for Children.

"Our students take a lot of pride in being able to prepare for an event and seeing the results of their efforts," said Ed Lachterman, Yorktown Lions member and the director of food services of the school.

The students under the supervision of Chef Laura Daniels, prepared trays
of finger sandwiches and assorted desserts for the event.

One Beaver Ridge resident said that in all of his 16 years at his home, this
was the best event he had attended. It was an evening of smiles and laughter for the Beaver Ridge residents and the Yorktown Lions members that volunteered their time and efforts.
