Robert Athanasidy received the highest achievement in Boy Scouts and become the 78th Eagle Scout in the history of Troop 174 of Yorktown Heights.

BSA Troop 174's newest Eagle Scout is Robert C. Athanasidy who received his Eagle Court of Honor on Dec. 15 at Grace Lutheran Church in Yorktown.

He earned the award this summer after developing and executing his Eagle Service Project. Athanasidy had been in contact with the Yorktown Historical Society to commemorate Revolutionary War landmarks in the town. At the site of a proposed monument at Downing Park, he raised money for, designed and built an information kiosk with an enclosed display case.

His project will be used by visitors for park and area trail information, historic sites, and current events.
