Major Snow Storm on the Way for Yorktown, Somers

Heavy snowfall is headed for the region Friday night, according to the National Weather Service.

Northern Westchester will likely get hit with a major snowstorm Friday night, according to the National Weather Service—strong winds combined with heavy snowfall could bring blizzard-like conditions.

The NWS has issued a winter storm watch for Friday night, forecasting "significant snowfall, strong winds with near blizzard conditions."

  • Snow before 3pm, then rain, snow, and sleet. The rain and snow could be heavy at times. High near 36. East wind 6 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
  • Friday Night Snow with areas of blowing snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Low around 21. Blustery, with a north wind 16 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 43 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 7 to 11 inches possible.
