Relay for Life Challenges Yorktown to Get Healthy, 'Lose Big'

Donate to a great cause and to give yourself a kick start to get healthy in 100 days.

The American Cancer Society is celebrating its 100th year in May and Yorktown Relay for Life is challenging residents to 'Lose Big' and get healthy.

Relay for Life is holding a contest to see who can lose the most weight, starting the week of Feb. 25 and ending on June 7. The winner will be revealed at the Yorktown Relay for Life's annual walk-a-thon on June 14 at the Jack Devito Field.

To enter the contest, participants need to join a team and donate $100 in your name (in the last name box please add RBL*) by Feb. 22. You will then get weighed in the week of Feb. 25 and weighed again on June 7 at a destination to be determined.

"Your weight will not be published," Relay for Life co-chair Jane McCarthy said. "We will work with the weigh in location to track the start and end weight of the participants."

Participants will get a purple "healthy goody bag" for their 'Lose Big' $100 donation. The bag will contain a variety of gym passes to Bad Mikes in Mahopac, Club Fit (30 Days) in Jefferson Valley; Gold’s Gym, Personal Training by Connie Cramer, Solaris, Sweat in Shrub Oak, Zumba from Intrigue Dance & Fitness, and a limited supply of food from Jenny Craig.
