PHOTOS: Sandy Crashes Down on Yorktown, Somers

The storm made a mess in town from out-of-order traffic lights, trees down on roads and homes, to transformers fires.

Although the State of Emergency is still in effect in the towns of Yorktown and Somers, there were people venturing out Tuesday morning. 

Several roads in Somers were blocked today including Mahopac Avenue, Lake Road, Route 35. Somers officials announced dry ice were to be distributed at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesdsay at Van Tassell Park, 98 Primrose St. (Route 139) next to Primrose School in Somers. Traffic was backed up on Primrose Street and it was pretty much impassable.

In Yorktown, a downed wire caused a water main break at the corner of Barger Street and Oriole Court in Shrub Oak, affecting some 50 houses in the area as well as about 119 people at Trump Park residences. Click on the link to check out the video.
